NutriScan AI ("the App", "we") provides AI-assisted nutrition estimation for food photos. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and how you can delete it.
1. Information we collect
- Google Sign-In profile: when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email and profile picture.
- Email & account: for email sign-up we store your name, email and a bcrypt-hashed password.
- Profile: optional age, gender, height, weight, activity level and health goal — used only to compute your calorie target and BMI.
- Food image uploads: photos you capture or upload are sent to our AI provider for identification and stored in your private scan history.
- Scan history & diary: analyses, saved diary entries, favorites and water log — visible only to you.
2. Why we collect it
- To run AI analysis of your food images and return calories, macros, vitamins, a health score and tips.
- To show your daily and weekly nutrition tracking.
- To detect abuse using aggregate, non-personal metrics.
3. How your data is protected
All traffic is encrypted with HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and sessions use signed JWT tokens. Your scans and profile are private to your account.
4. Third-party services we use
- Google Authentication (Google Sign-In) – secure login.
- Google Gemini API – AI food identification and nutrition estimation. Images are processed only for inference and are not used to train models.
- Google AdMob – advertising; may collect device identifiers, IP and ad-interaction events. We never share your photos, diary or profile with advertisers.
- Secure cloud database (MongoDB) – stores your account and scan history.
5. Children
The App is intended for users 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
6. Your rights & data deletion
You can review, edit and delete your data at any time:
- Delete your account (removes login, profile, scans, images, diary, favorites, water log): see Delete Account.
- Delete only your stored data (keeps your account): see Delete My Data.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
